Perle Hop (Rooted/Mature plant)
£25.00
This lovely hop suits lager to strong ales.
What is a mature plant?
Usually you purchase a hop as a single rhizome (around £10), a cutting from a mature plant. We sell the whole mature plant at least 3 years old. If you are careful you can divide your plant (up to 4 times) before planting it to create more bines. See picture as example.
Aroma: Specific aroma descriptors include floral and spicy
Info: 7-9.5% Alpha Acids • Domestic • Finishing Hop
All hops sold are organically grown and cultivated from our own hops on our farm here in the UK. We sell rhizomes with shoots, so you can be certain you have a healthy plant. We’ll send out your hop plant(s) when their shoots are ready – usually between March – May. Please note that we only have limited stock for each variety.

Description
A palate-pleaser with its moderate, pleasant, minty clean bittering qualities and refreshing, spicy “green hop” aroma. Bred at the Hop Research Institute in Hüll and released in 1978, Perle is a cross between Northern Brewer and 63/5/27M. It is tolerant to most diseases and is grown in both Germany and the United States. Perle is known for adding a traditional, German-like quality to beer.
The original Perle was created in Germany sometime during the 1960’s or early-mid 1970’s from Northern Brewer and a German male. It was released to the public in 1978.
Some European breweries have claimed that Perle is much like and a good substitute for Hallertau Mittelfrüher. Others in the US and Japan however have disagreed with that assessment. Perle is said to have a pleasant aroma, elements of mint and pine with a hint of spice.
