Notes from the Hop Farm Dec 2021

It’s been a busy and exciting few months. Shortly after we published the last issue of MASHED!, we harvested our hydroponic hops, which had been growing like crazy in their temporary warehouse home this season. With our hop farm safely packed away for the winter it has given us time to launch our new Brew Tank. And WOW! what a response we’ve had from you. As soon as we got our hands on the prototype we knew we were on to something special, but until you get customer feedback you never know.  But what a amazing feedback we’ve had!

We have now all but sold out of both our 40L and 60L tanks and are taking bookings for delivery in the new year. So if you want to up your brewing game, it may be worth taking a closer look at the Brew Tank.

We also have some great new toys under development, to work alongside the Brew Tank. We are developing a ‘temperature control’ unit able to handle up to 3KW, with built in programming and variable voltage so you can truly get to grips with controlling your mashing temperature and boil rate.

Another new toy we are very excited to get our hands on is our very own conical fermenter. This will be built with the same robust quality as the Brew Tank: dual walled for awesome insulation, made from 1.5mm stainless steel. It is designed to work alongside the Brew Tank so you can swap components from one device to the other. It will also have a temperature control system, which will hopefully control the wort from 5 to 40 C whilst fermenting, meaning you won’t need additional cooling/warming chambers. You will also be able to pressurize the chamber to an estimated 20-30psi so you can either ferment under pressure or carbonate your brew.

And we’re not stopping there! We are working closely with a new supplier to build distilling equipment that can be bolted onto the Brew Tank. I’ve always wanted to dabble at brewing my own gin and I know my wife is very keen. So now it will be even easier to convince the other half to buy a Brew Tank!

So all in all we’ve been very busy and are looking forward to the new year. We are still on the lookout for our new hop farm, but we are making more and more connections here in Wales – fingers crossed it will all work out for us all in 2022.
